Who doesn’t like a good challenge every now and then?
On June 10th, we kicked off our St. Paul’s Boldest campaign. We hosted approximately 40 officers and administrative staff from the St. Paul Police Department and Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office at the Mt. Airy Boys and Girls Club in St. Paul. With the help of a Leadership St. Paul group from the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, Bolder Options is challenging all groups with ties to St. Paul to recruit mentors to serve our St. Paul youth. The group that signs up the most mentors by May 2016 will be named St. Paul’s Boldest!
At the St. Paul’s Boldest kickoff event, kids were able to interact with the officers in a playful setting, which gave them a chance to get to know each other on a more personal level. Officers used the opportunity to talk to the youth about a number of topics, including the importance of staying in school and staying out of trouble. Together, they played tag and participated in relay races of frog jumps, bear crawls and crab walks. To top off the fun filled day, the kids got the chance to sit on the officers’ motorcycles and learn about the equipment they use, along with meeting Duke, from the K-9 unit and his officer. Read more about the event in the Pioneer Press.
Organizations of all sizes are invited to join the challenge. To find out more, visit our St. Paul’s Boldest page today!
