One of first times I saw Becky Reichel working with the youth of Bolder Options was at a video shoot for Give to the Max Day. Becky was in her element – friendly, silly, engaged. She wasn’t afraid to be wacky and energetic, while being direct about her expectations for the youth. She coached and celebrated, praised and motivated.
It’s no wonder that she chose a career in youth services. And, it probably comes as no surprise that she was equally gifted in working with the program staff team at Bolder Options. St. Paul Mentoring Program Coordinator, Thomas Rakow-Pare, says this about Becky, “[She]has been a pillar of greatness for Bolder Options by raising everyone’s motivation and expectations through her leadership. Her ability to instantly connect with youth and give each of them the feeling they are incredible made it possible for mentors and coordinators to fully engage them. It also cannot be understated that she makes Bolder a FUN place to work, volunteer, and spend time. Her aura is one-of-a-kind and will be missed.”
Becky is moving on professionally to support youth as school social worker at KIPP Minnesota.
Jasmine Sanchez, our volunteer coordinator, described Becky this way, “Becky is a funny, strong, and determined individual. She truly cares about the well being of her staff and program clients. Her wisdom and high energy will be missed!” Scott Robinson, Rochester Program Coordinator, says “To me, Becky is the glue that holds everything together. She is a fighter, a winner and everything you could want in a co-worker. It will be very hard to see her go.” In addition to her personal characteristics, Becky helped us in a period of rapid growth – moving the program from serving a few hundred youth to serving over 2800 in 2014 alone.
