Mark is a nationally recognized business leader, author and expert on corporate governance and ethics, strategy planning, finance and leadership. His expertise is in guiding boards on governance best practices and financial strategies including mergers, acquisitions and restructurings. He is a Certified Board Advisor who has served on over 50 boards of directors and advised over 100 boards. His business achievements include being inducted into the Minnesota Business Hall of Fame and receiving the Outstanding Director and Lifetime Achievement Awards by the National Association of Corporate Directors. His firm has won five national and regional Turnaround of the Year awards from the Turnaround Management Association for the year’s best turnaround or financial restructuring.
His commitment to serving at-risk youth is very personal, as he was once a young boy growing up in a low-income neighborhood himself. Mark understands the tremendous influence encouraging role models can have on youth who are living on the “edge”, and believes that the relationships Bolder Options mentors build are the best way to help them make positive life choices.

Lou was recognized by Barron’s in both 2010 and 2011 as one of the Top 1,000 Financial Advisors in America. He has earned the Certified Investment Management AnalystSM (CIMA®) designation from The Wharton School and holds an economics degree from the University of Minnesota.
Lou lives in Orono with his wife, Jill, and has three daughters.

Deb LaMere has served on the Board of Bolder Options since 2007 because the organization “makes a direct impact on youth where it matters most.” She served as Chair between 2011 and 2015. She has also lent her professional skills to the program committee, strategic planning committee, development committee, and fundraised as a Destination Marathon fundraiser in 2010. Deb’s professional input and consistent leadership helped the program remain healthy through the recession.
Professionally, Deb is responsible for employee engagement, workforce development, and career-pathing for Ceridian. She holds a BA in Human Resources from the University of St. Thomas and an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. She lives in Minneapolis.

As a seasoned business executive, John brings 32 years of expertise in areas including operations, financial management, business planning and analysis, acquisitions and more.
John has led financial and operations teams at various manufacturing, technology and service companies, including roles as a vice president and chief financial officer. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin, and as a Certified Public Accountant he also received the notable Elijah Watt Sells Award.
John currently serves as an Executive Committee board member and Finance Committee chairman for Bolder Options and the PinkySwear Foundation. He is actively involved with several ESOP organizations, which includes roles as a board member of Kreg Tool, and as the Lead Director, Audit and Compensation Committee Chairman, and ESOP Committee board member of Realityworks. John and his wife live in Minneapolis.

Samantha Heaton is an attorney at Winthrop & Weinstine. P.A., Trusts & Estate Group, practicing in the firm’s Estate Planning group. She focuses on preparing comprehensive estate and gift plans that are implemented through wills, trust agreements and related documents. Samantha represents high-net worth individuals in charitable gift planning, tax planning, and probate and trust administration. She also works with private foundations and other nonprofit organizations in entity formation, obtaining tax-exempt status, and various governance and compliance matters.
Samantha is passionate about pro bono legal work, and donates her time to various guardianship, nonprofit and probate matters.
Samantha is a Harvard Law graduate and holds a masters in theology from Emory University and a B.A. from St. Olaf College in religion. She lives in Minnetonka with her husband, William and one son.
Ann brings her financial and leadership expertise to Bolder Options. As one of the former owners and Directors of Excel Bank Minnesota, Ann, along with her family owned and operated one of the largest closely held bank operations in the Twin Cities, until selling the bank in 2007 to M & I Marshall and Isley Bank Corporation. Her banking career spanned over twenty years.
She is also a very active civic and community leader serving on the boards of the Abbott Northwestern Hospitals and Clinics Foundation, Edina Crime Prevention Foundation and the Luther College Board of Regents.

Ann received her B. A. Degree from Luther College. She lives in Edina with her husband Roger. They have four children, a Swiss Bernese Mountain Dog and three horses.

She’s been brought in by Fortune 500 companies such as Coca Cola, Ameriprise, General Mills, 3M and over 35 financial services companies, nearly 75 professional services firms, and done work for countless associations and nonprofits.

Scott brings nearly 20 years of marketing agency experience to the Bolder Options team. He offers a strategic approach and a healthy dose of creativity, whether he’s developing award-winning campaigns for companies like Coca-Cola or volunteering for local non-profits.
After serving two terms on the Board of Directors for Athletes Committed to Educating Students (A.C.E.S), Scott was looking for another mentoring program to support. The choice was clear once he attended a Bolder Options graduation ceremony and saw the impact a year of working together had on the participating kids and mentors. Scott has always appreciated the value of mentoring and the importance of living a healthy active lifestyle. He’s played sports his entire life and spent summers during college coaching youth baseball.
Scott holds a degree in communication from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and lives in Eden Prairie with his wife Heidi.

As Chief Financial Officer, Bill Gaumond is responsible for all financial functions at Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®). These include financial planning, management, reporting, and corporate risk management.
Prior to assuming his role, Gaumond spent 12 years in a number of finance and investment-related positions at Allianz Life, including senior vice president of the Asset Liability Management and Investment Risk Management department. Before that, Gaumond served for two years as a senior member of the Group Planning and Controlling department for Allianz SE in Munich, Germany.
Before joining Allianz Life in 2004, Gaumond worked for nine years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. Gaumond holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated summa cum laude.
Semi-Retired Educator, Business Management Consultant and Sales and Marketing Professional
Ray, as he prefers to be called, has been newly elected to Board of Directors of Bolder Options. Ray has over 40 years of sales, marketing and consultancy experience. Having lived and worked in multiple, diverse marketplaces, Ray brings his unique perspective to Bolders’ Board. Ray has worked both domestically and internationally for companies such as The Procter and Gamble Company, 3M Company and Novartis Pharmaceuticals. Ray also worked as a Manager and Senior Consultant for Reliability Management Group focused on change management, process change and culture realignment for Fortune 500 companies.
As an educator, he has worked primarily as a cultural liaison, staff advisor and substitute teacher. He has also worked with targeted at risk students. His work with the Lakeville Public Schools resulted in a dramatic closure of the achievement gap between different racial groups. He led the Black, Brown and College Bound Initiative resulting in refocusing students of color in their educational pursues.
Ray attended the University of Minnesota and Governor’s State University, IL majoring in History Education, Business Management and did graduate work in Education, Training and Organizational Leadership. Ray was a Football All-Big Ten, Second Team Selection twice while at Minnesota and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs Professional Club. He was Vice President of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Ray has served on school boards, chaired commissions on parks, recreation and leisure and was a Judge for The Chicago Tribune All State Academic Teams.
He lives in Savage, MN with his wife of 45 years, Mary Katherine and has 3 adult children. Matthew Robert, a Marketing Director for Gilead Sciences, Emily Margaret, an OBGYN for Abbott/Northwestern Hospitals and Elizabeth Dian, an Educator Administrator. He and Mary have six grandchildren.
Ray is active in numerous charitable activities and is currently a board member of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football League Alumni Association, Bolder Options, Mancini Hall of Fame Selection Board, and the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. Ray is Past President of the University of Minnesota Goal Line Club. He also served 18 years as a board member of the Johnson High School Alumni Governors Club. Ray has been employed with Edina Realty for the last 25 years working in Real Estate sales and also has coached football at Cretin Derham Hall High School for the past 16 years. Before joining Edina Realty, Ray played for the Washington Redskins of the NFL where he was a member of the 1987 Super Bowl Champions. Ray is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and St. Paul Johnson High School. Ray has been married to his wife Tyanne for 27 years and they have two children, Brooks and Elise, and currently reside in Maplewood Minnesota.

Crawford has been a member of the Bolder Options Board of Directors since 2013. Harnessing over 16 years of diverse marketing and communications experience, he is able to channel his business acumen into helping impact Bolder’s unique dedication to serving youth from a healthy, active life skills approach. Crawford is VP of Business Development for Capture Marketing, a relationship marketing company focused on athletics and active lifestyles. He is also the head of football operations for Elite Sports Advising. Crawford earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Minnesota, where he was a captain of the Golden Gophers football team. He currently lives in Chaska with his wife Sarah and their two beautiful children.
Senior Director of Operations, Medica
Jorge Lomeli works at Medica and is the Senior Director of Operations in their Individual and Family Business Unit. He has been a member of the Medica Foundation Grant Review Committee and has helped advocate for minority non-profits as well as youth and early childhood programs. Jorge has a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Business at the University of Illinois. He has worked in the Insurance industry for over 20 years and worked at CIGNA, LTCG Inc. and CNA Insurance companies before joining the team at Medica. Jorge is also an alumni mentor from Bolder Options, having mentored one adolescent boy in 2011. Jorge grew up in the south side of Chicago in a Mexican-American household where he himself dealt with adversity and high risk situations. He credits the Mexican Community Center and other local non-profits for his development and path towards college and a better future.

Chandler McCoy is the President and a Founding Partner of M&A Executive Search. He conducts senior executive level and Board of Director searches for profit and non-profit organizations. He has 20 years of executive search experience serving international Fortune 500 clients such as General Mills, ConAgra, Toro, SUPERVALU and Clairol (now a division of Procter & Gamble), as well as small and mid-cap companies and non-profits.
Chandler was named one of the “Forty under 40” by The Business Journal in 2004 and in January of 2008 was named WCCO’s “Good Neighbor.” He has served on the Board of Bolder Options since 2013. He joined the board because of his connection to the Minneapolis Jaycees whose charitable foundation supported Bolder Options in its early days, as well as his deep commitment to the power of mentoring.
Chandler lives in Plymouth, and is originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin. His hobbies include boating, biking, golf and watching the Packers. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Business from the University of Wisconsin.
Roe Law Group, PLLC
Jessica is a Minnesota State Bar Association Board Certified Labor and Employment Law Specialist. She is also a certified mediator and arbitrator and has been resolving disputes for parties with employment and corporate issues. Jessica speaks extensively on employment law and litigation topics and leads multiple seminars each year. She was named one of the “Top Women in Finance” by Finance & Commerce newspaper in 2008 and has been involved in the community as a hospice volunteer, environmental advocate, and advocate for mentor programs. She is an avid runner and triathlete and a parent; she and her children enjoy spending time together while volunteering in the community. She graduated with her BA from the University of Minnesota and her JD from William Mitchell College of Law.

Chief Executive Officer & President, Delta Dental of Minnesota
Rodney Young is the current Chief Executive Officer and President of Delta Dental of Minnesota with revenues of $1.2b in oral health insurance. He has over fifteen years of extensive experience serving on the boards of publicly traded and non-profit corporations. Outside of Bolder Options, his current Board of Director roles include Delta Dental of Minnesota, Delta Dental Plans Association, and Allina. Past Board of Director service includes Angeion Corporation, Health Fitness Corporation, LecTec Corporation (Chair), and Possis Corporation.
Mr. Young was the recipient of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and Twin Cities Magazine 2010 Outstanding Directors Award for his service on the Possis Medical board. Mr. Young’s cumulative experience on boards includes; director of four publicly-held corporations and director of three non-profit organizations with revenues ranging from $30 million to $18.5 billion.
Mr. Young is a strategic, visionary, executive leader with hands-on business experience that encompasses a continuum of med-tech, health management, oral health dental insurance, pharmaceutical and wellness related industries. In addition to executive leadership, his professional background includes; strategy development, international market development, product development and launch, business development, sales and marketing.
Mr. Young graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Truman University in Kirksville, MO and attended Lewis University, Romeoville, IL for business management studies.
